Artist Statement
Color evokes memories and emotions for me, and it is the central focus of my work. My three dimensional collage series is created from intuition and based on music, memories and color relationships. Mixed materials rich with texture such as thick acrylic paint, gouache, watercolor paper, canvas, foam core, and balsa wood are placed into compositions, giving them a tactile quality that draws the viewer in and creates contrast and depth. These elements are then mounted at varying depths from the substrate, creating an undulating rhythm and giving each piece its innate musicality.
